10 Pro Pedalboards Revealed. Rebecca Dirks. February 10, 2012. Petrucci’s satellite pedalboard may seem the least stacked on the surface, but that’s because most of his firepower is packed in the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II that resides in the effects loop of his Mesa/Boogie Mark V amps. His guitar signal is split at a Framptone A/B box.

Click to expand.Bias FX is S-Gear for High Gain by a wide margin. Honestly if you are not crushing it with Bias I would recommend digging in more with it since it is extremely capable. It has its issues but it is.great. at that stuff. That said, the recently discussed Thermionik I like even better and TH3 as well. The Mercuriall recommendation is good if limited. AT4 is spotty but is better for some things, less so on others. Revalver 4 is inexpensive and underrated.
Soo many options for metal fans. Of which I would put S-Gear low on the list for anything truly metal.
Sure it can be tweaked and is not terrible but that is not its thing. I think people here just recommend it out of reflex because they are all blues freaks. But IMHO you already have a really good tool in Bias. If you are just set on exploring some I'd say look at Thermionik, it is cheap and you can buy amps 1 by 1. The MkIIC+ is on sale for like $5 right now.Go ask on seven string org. Lots of metal people there.
